FAQ
Common questions from other tilers.
Getting started
Can I try without an account?
Yes. Open the app, draw a floor plan, preview tiles, and export a watermarked layout without signing in. Create an account when you want cloud save and paid features.
Is it free?
Yes, with limits - try a real layout free (up to 10 walls). Subscribe when you need cloud save, full tile counts, and clean exports on every job.
I’m not good with computers — is this for me?
If you can measure a room, you can use TilingPlan. Draw or trace the plan, pick a tile and pattern, then export from the Share panel.
How do I replay the intro tour?
Open the app, go to Help in the footer, then Tutorials — choose Replay intro tour. You can also skip the tour and learn from the FAQ and tutorials here.
Will it work on my phone?
Layout editing is best on a laptop or tablet. Export the image and send it from any device — that’s how most clients approve the layout.
Floor plans & layout
Do I still need to measure the room?
Yes - you still measure on site. TilingPlan makes it easy to model the room from those dimensions or an architect’s floor plan.
Can I do wall layouts?
Yes - the "floor plan" can be used to model any surface, just use "walls" to frame your tiling area. Thin walls can be used to divide areas, like two walls of a shower.
How accurate are the layouts?
You enter dimensions from your site measure. TilingPlan is for layout planning and client visuals — always verify critical cuts and falls on site before you order tile.
What about wet rooms and falls?
Model the floor plan and openings in TilingPlan. Falls, drains, tanking, and waterproofing remain your on-site expertise — the app does not replace wet-room installation judgement.
Tiles, patterns & quoting
Does this replace a dry-lay?
For exploring layouts and client approval, yes. You may still dry-lay for final feel - but you’ll do a lot less of it.
I already use paper sketches.
Paper doesn’t highlight awkward cuts or show you that shifting a quarter tile to the right saves you lots of cuts. When the client wants herringbone instead of offset, TilingPlan swaps in seconds — no new site visit, no new dry-lay.
When do I get tile and cut counts?
Tile and cut counts appear for paid subscribers (Pro and Business). Free tier shows the layout image only — enough for client approval, not merchant ordering.
Projects & sync
Can I save projects on the free tier?
Free tier work stays in your browser for the current session — there is no cloud project save. Upgrade to Pro or Business to save jobs and pick up where you left off on another device.
How does cloud sync work?
Signed-in subscribers get projects stored in the cloud. Edits autosave while you work. Open the app on another device, sign in, and your saved jobs appear in the Projects panel.
What happens if I go offline?
You can keep editing locally. Changes queue and sync when you’re back online. If you were working on a cloud project, reopen it after reconnecting to flush pending saves.
What is the 10-wall limit on free?
Free floor plans can include up to 10 walls. That’s enough for a typical bathroom or small kitchen quote. Paid plans remove the wall cap for larger jobs.
Export & watermarks
How do I export a layout for a client?
Open the Share panel in the sidebar, select what you want included, then download a PNG or JPEG. Attach the image to your quote on WhatsApp, email, or text — most clients sign off from the picture.
Why is there a watermark on my export?
Free exports include a watermark so you can try the full workflow on real jobs. Pro and Business unlock high-resolution exports without a watermark.
Account & privacy
Where do I manage my profile?
Open Account from the site footer or header when signed in. Complete your display name and trade details so exports and support requests are tied to the right person.
Can I export or delete my data?
Yes. Account settings include GDPR data export and account deletion. Our privacy policy explains what we collect, how long we keep it, and how to opt out of analytics.
Billing & subscriptions
How do I subscribe?
Compare plans on our Pricing page, create an account, then subscribe to Pro or Business from Account or when the app prompts you at a paid feature. Checkout runs through Stripe at the monthly prices shown (ex VAT).
What’s the difference between Pro and Business?
Pro is your go-to for every quote: save up to 25 jobs, no wall limits, tile and cut counts, high-res exports without a watermark, and guide images. Business adds your branding, client share links, PDF export, and project history with rollback — up to 100 saved jobs.
Monthly or annual?
Paid plans are billed monthly at the prices on our Pricing page (ex VAT). Annual billing may be offered at checkout where available. Manage or cancel from the Stripe customer portal on Account.
Another subscription?
Free covers small jobs. Pay when you quote regularly and need cloud save, tile and cut counts, and clean exports — one avoided rework day often pays for months of subscription.
How do I cancel or change my plan?
Open Account and go to Billing to open the Stripe customer portal. Cancel, change tier, or update your payment method there. Changes follow your current billing period.
What happens if I cancel?
You keep paid access until the end of the current billing period. After that you get 30 days of read-only cloud access so you can export saved projects, then you revert to free-tier limits.
Referrals
How do referrals work?
Your referral code is on the Account page — copy the code or invite link and share it with other tilers. When someone signs up with your code and pays for their first month, you earn one free month of account credit after 30 days. You need an active paid subscription to receive rewards, up to 12 per calendar year.
Can I use a friend’s referral code?
Yes — enter it when you create your account or on the Account page if you have not already applied one. You cannot use your own code.
